Most people visit the National Trust village of Lacock, on the edge of the Cotswolds AONB in Wiltshire, because of its quintessential English atmosphere.

It is like going back in time because Lacock today looks much like it did 200 years ago.

We love Lacock but we also travel to this beautiful town for the food!

Sign of the Angel is a 2 AA Rosette awarded 15th Century coaching inn that encompasses the key elements of a traditional Inn.

It provides great tasting food and drink in front of large open fires with warm, homely rooms for those staying overnight.

We recommend going for a long walk around Lacock first and then enjoy a warm scrumptious meal at the Angel afterwards.

It is always such a treat, especially in the winter months when you can sit next to the open fires.

Walking

Off course, there is much to see and explore in the village of Lacock.

Try one of the many NT walks around the village or enjoy the Bowden Hill 5-mile walk through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

The final section of the North Wiltshire Rivers Route links Chippenham with Reybridge, Lacock and Melksham.

It is an extremely beautiful route, passing through the spectacular landscape alongside the River Avon and the Wilts & Berks Canal.

It is a great way to get to Lacock on foot or on a bike because it is a footpath and a cycleway.
