The Ethicurean
Just outside the village of Wrington in North Somerset sits Barley Wood Walled Garden.
It is a carefully restored Victorian kitchen garden with orchards. Within this walled garden you will find the Ethicurean Restaurant.
Housed in two rustic glasshouses, set against an awe-inspiring backdrop of the Mendip Hills, the kitchen only uses the very freshest fruit and veg, pasture-reared meat and sustainable seafood.
When we lived in Somerset, the Ethicurean was our go to restaurant when we had friends over to stay. Everyone loved it!
What’s more to say. The food is simply delicious!
Note: we included just one of our own images in this post. The Ethicurean allowed us to use theirs because their images truly reflect the uniqueness of the place and the food.
Walking
The Ethicurean is set on the edge of the Mendip Hills AONB.
So, you can stretch your legs first and have a great lunch afterwards.
Head for Blagdon Lake and enjoy a short 2,5-mile walk along this manmade 440-acre reservoir that blends into the landscape of the northern flanks of the Mendips.
Or enjoy a 6-mile walk from Shipham exploring the Mendip’s mining past. Discover why the area’s curious geology made this a centre of lead and zinc mining.
If you are up for a challenge, then join the Mendip Ring at Blagdon Lake. This is a 117-mile-long distance path in 9 legs around the boundary of the Mendips.
