Glastonbury Tor

The 521ft-high conical hill of Glastonbury Tor offers magnificent views of the Somerset Levels, Dorset, Wiltshire, and Wales.
This iconic and evocative landmark in Somerset is topped by St Michael’s Tower, a remnant of a 14th-century church.
It is visible for miles around and commands stupendous views, encompassing Wells, the Quantock Hills AONB, and the Mendip Hills AONB.
Get your walking shoes on and embark on the stiff climb because the 360-degree view is worth it!
Just head for the A361 where a signed footpath points the way to the top. Follow the concrete path to the summit by a series of manmade terraces.

Walking
There are many walks to choose from because Glastonbury Tor is set in the heart of the Somerset Levels.
Go and explore the Avalon Marshes and walk through one of the many nature reserves, like Shapwick Heath, RSPB Ham Wall and Westhay Moor.
The Mendip Way
Or take on a challenge and walk the Mendip Way.
An amazing 50 miles long-distance trail that takes in all the special qualities of the Mendip Hills.
The West Mendip Way is largely in the Mendip Hills AONB and starts near the Bristol Channel at Uphill and climbs the Mendip Hills escarpment onto the Mendip plateau and across the top of Cheddar Gorge and down to Wells.
The East Mendip Way continues from Wells to Frome.
You can leave the Mendip Way in Wells and follow the Monarch’s Way towards Glastonbury Tor.
