The north Norfolk Coast AONB begins (or ends) at Hunstanton.

The main attraction is the beach. This is one of our favourite beaches in Norfolk because of the stripy cliffs for which Hunstanton is well known, comprising a layer of red sandstone set beneath a band of white chalk.

The beach and cliffs stretch north to Old Hunstanton, the site of the original fishing village. The large grassy park/car park backs into the sea cliffs and offers a panoramic ocean view.

Walking

We walked from Old Hunstanton towards Heacham and back along the beach. An easy 4-mile walk.

But if you want to take on a challenge then the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path will provide a great experience.

The Peddars Way between Knettishall Heath south east of Thetford to the coast at Holme-next-the-Sea follows a route from Roman times, and the Norfolk Coast Path runs from Hunstanton to Cromer.

The combination of the two routes has it all. Fantastic scenery and landscape surround the 93 miles (150 km) of the two trails.
