Whenever we travel through Kent, we try to stop for lunch at the Pig at Bridge Place.

Tucked away just outside the historic village of Bridge, three miles south of Canterbury, this member of Home Grown Hotels has the same country charm as all the other Pig members.

Their Kitchen Gardens have become the brand’s signature and in the Kentish countryside the food is just as sublime and fresh-as-it-gets.

If you would like to stay a bit longer and enjoy the ‘Garden of England’ then there are 7 characterful bedrooms in the main house, 12 spacious rooms in the Coach House, 2 family friendly lodges; and The Barn, a rustic romantic two-storey hideaway in the old stables.

Walking

We always like to combine great food with a good walk.

The Elham Valley Way is a very scenic walking route which takes you from the seaside town of Hythe, through the enchanting countryside of the Kent Downs AONB and arriving in the heart of Canterbury.

You can explore sections of this walking trail. For instance, a circular walk from Elham village. The route gently climbs through open fields with stunning views across the valley.
