Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage, a beautifully, secluded, detached, hilltop cottage, is situated on the outskirts of the hamlet of Welsh Newton in Herefordshire.
It is close to the popular riverside market town of Monmouth in Wales.
Set over two floors, there is a bedroom with a king-size bed with an adjacent bathroom on the first floor.
Downstairs there is a compact kitchen, an intimate dining area and a cosy sitting area in front of the warming wood burner.
All with fabulous views out onto the garden and across the valley.
We loved Rose Cottage because of its location!
It sits on the border with Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire.
Ideally placed to explore the Wye Valley AONB, the Forest of Dean and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The nearest city is Hereford.
Walking
The whole area is a patchwork of fabulous countryside so there are many walks in Monmouthshire to choose from.
Head for the Wye Valley and explore Symonds Yat Rock. Or walk along the river Wye and visit Tintern Abbey.
Enjoy the low-lying land north of Monmouth, between the Monnow and the River Usk.
In the 11th-century the Norman invaders built a trio of strongholds here – Skenfrith, Grosmont and White castles – within an eight-mile radius of each other.
The Three Castles Walk is a 19-mile circular route linking these medieval castles.
From Monmouth you can follow the Monnow Valley Walk along the River Monnow which ends at Hay-on-Wye.
This walk runs parallel to Offa’s Dyke Path but offers a low-level alternative.
