This beautiful manor house is world famous for its 11-acre garden. It was created over the course of 40 years after Hidcote was purchased in 1907 by Major Lawrence Johnston, the great horticulturist.

In fact, there are a number of separates gardens, each created to a different design.

Explore the maze of narrow paved pathways and discover the many secret gardens within the stunning hedges.

Enjoy magnificent vistas and plants that burst with colour.

For garden lovers this is most definitely a must-see if you are on holiday in Gloucestershire.

Walking

The countryside beyond Hidcote Manor is stunningly beautiful!

Before visiting Hidcote we enjoyed a 6-mile circular route from Middle Littleton to Cleeve Prior through typical ‘Vale of Evesham’ countryside.

Hidcote is an immensely popular attraction in the region so we went for a walk first. We then visited the garden at the end of the day when most visitors left.

Or you can join a great 4 ‘miles without stiles walk’ from Hidcote Manor car park.

This route will take in the Hidcotes and Mickleton. Along the way you will enjoy great views over the Vale of Evesham.

Monarch’s Way

If you are up for a longer stretch, then join the Monarch’s Way at Hidcote Manor and follow it towards Bristol!

The Monarch’s Way is a 615-mile long-distance footpath that approximates the escape route taken by King Charles II in 1651 after being defeated in the Battle of Worcester.

He travelled first north towards Wales, then south through the Cotswolds and the Mendips to the South Coast, and finally along the South Downs to Shoreham where he made his escape to France.
